Jailbreak your Apple iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.1 with redsn0w (Phone Arena News)

Jailbreak your Apple iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.1 with redsn0w (Phone Arena News).

From Phone Arena, Dev-Team Blog

A new beta version of redsn0w has been released for users of the Apple iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 that will successfully jailbreak the device. This version of redsn0w will also allow the jailbreak of iOS 4.1 on the second-generation iPod Touch.

As of now, redsn0w needs further testing on Windows PC’s and is currently only available on Mac OS X x86 because of this. The guys over at the Dev-Team Blog have posted the instructions on how to proceed with this jailbreak. The directions are as follows:

If you’ve already updated your device to 4.1 or 4.0, the next steps are:
1.    Launch the beta redsn0w 0.9.6b1
2.    Select your stock 4.1 or 4.0 ipsw (you’ve already used this to update your device to 4.1 or  4.0)
3.    Select “Install Cydia” and any of the other options shown above, then click “Next”.  Use DFU mode to install the jailbreak.
Note: If you choose to “Enable battery percentage”, you actually toggle that off and on via Settings->General->Usage.

You can always count on those guys to help you out with your jail-breaking needs. Have any of you tried this? Post your results in the comment section below.

Will Microsoft And Nokia Team Up To Take On Apple, Google?

Will Microsoft And Nokia Team Up To Take On Apple, Google?.

“Two dinosaurs don’t produce a mammal, they produce a dinosaur.”

But sitting on this side of the world, where the iPhones and Androids are too pricey, Nokia might just. I can imagine them selling their new Symbian^3 phones at $200 and getting alot of market share back from low end Android phones.

To beat Apple in the high end, they need a miracle, and if Microsoft can’t do it for themselves on the Windows Phone 7, I don’t think they can do it for Nokia.

Nokia did come back in the times of the first color screen phones and QWERTY business phones, but this time it looks like they have taken way too long to make a comeback.

That doesn’t mean Nokia will stop being the top selling brand in the world, it will still be, but it just can’t be the number one smartphone brand… Never thought they would “Finnish” like this :)

Product Description from Website

Our very first application is finally available on the AppStore! Create A Comic was inspired by the creative talents of one of Tilted Chair’s founders. On the weekends he crafts comics based on funny, mock-worthy incidents at his workplace. Unfortunately, not all of us are endowed with this talent and, even though we may have funny quips of our own, we usually find the process of drawing a comic strip too daunting. That’s where Create A Comic comes in!

With Create A Comic you can create comics as easy as TOUCH, TYPE and SHARE. It’s so easy even your grandmother could do it!

3 Easy Steps to Comic Creation

  • Add characters to canvas using simple taps
  • Add a speech or thought bubble by tapping on the characters and start typing text
  • Finalize and share with your friends on Facebook directly from the application

Wacky and Whimsical Characters

  • The application comes with many wacky characters
  • Each character is available in different action poses
  • Easily flip and move characters by simple taps

Share Your Creations

11 things Google should change in Android 3.0 Honeycomb

Yesterday I was reading the following article “Android 3.0: 10 things Google should change” and it made me think, other than the 10 things mentioned, which I agree to 100%, there should be a number 11, Google should also enforce some standard screen resolutions. You must be thinking that I want to make Android as closed as Apple, but reality is, for developers the fragmentation of screen sizes and different phones running different OS is causing way too much damage.

Just to give an example, Roxio has already shown a demo of Angry Birds running on a Motorola Droid. If you look at their comments, they are still testing on the oh so many phones (read screen sizes) and not sure when they will be able to launch. This shows to prove how difficult it is to make apps for the android, which is why developers have not jumped on the Android bandwagon yet.

Until Google makes the bold move of specifying screen sizes, this will not change in my opinion. I suggest instead of going for 1 size, they can do 3 sizes for phones (not including tablets here). They could be the small Xperia 10 mini size, the Legend size and the mammoth Galaxy S size. If we keep these sizes standard for 2 years, everyone will be happy!

To summarize here are the 10 items from the article

1. An end to custom user interfaces
2. Capacitive touchscreens only
3. Cloud-based file syncing
4. Minimum processor and battery requirements
5. Jazz up the keyboard
6. More cursor control options
7. More supplied apps
8. More parental controls
9. More text management tools
10. Standard VoIP support

Let me know what you guys think, can Google get its act together?
